[Google Teaser] New Features in Google Earth

Google teased that it would be launching a ‘brand new experience’ for Google Earth, and it has announced the details. The biggest change is that Google Earth is no longer a standalone app on desktop: it now runs as a web app. As for now, it’s Chrome-only, but the company is promising support for other browsers later. The mobile version still requires an app, and is currently Android only, with additional iOS support promised. There are, though, two headline new features … Voyager is a new type of guided tour, accessed via a ship’s wheel icon. These are curated journeys of around ten locations, each with a particular theme. The journeys of course includes Street View imagery and 360-degree videos to provide an immersive experience. There are around 50 Voyager tours available today, with more to follow. Google has also borrowed the  I’m feeling lucky button from Search. Hitting this will randomly take you to one of 20,000 locatio

[TechLeaks] Moto Z2 Force leaked renders

Earlier in Wednesday’s leak, a render of the device’s bottom shows the 3.5mm port that was excluded from the original Moto Z Force. It’s remarkable that Lenovo managed to fit a jack in even after thinning the device to another millimeter to 5.99 mm (8.50 mm including the camera bump). Do keep in mind, though, that the original Moto Z was 5.19mm thick, making this new model a compromise between the two models.     The Z2 Force is less than a millimeter larger length and width-wise, though the all-around curves should help with the in-hand feel. Top and bottom renders especially highlight there are more rounded edges for improved cellular reception. In all, the design of the Z line remains unchanged from previously announced compatibility with existing Moto Mods. On the front, the Z2 Force is moving to the Moto G5’s larger, oblong fingerprint sensor. A 5.5-inch display remains, as does the Moto logo just below it. Motorola is adding a dual-camera s

[TechLeaks]The upcoming OnePlus handset’s codename leaked

OnePlus 3T Rumors and leaks surrounding OnePlus’s upcoming flagship smartphone are starting to make up. The latest leak comes from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and appears to show that the next handset is codenamed A5000. If we see through the company’s history, this would hint that the next device will be called the OnePlus 5… Previously OnePlus devices were internally named A0001, A2000, and A3000. These lined up with the OnePlus One, 2, and 3 so it is safe to assume that A5000 is indeed going to be the OnePlus 5. But why would OnePlus skip the number four and jump right to five? Well, OnePlus is a company based in China and in the Chinese language, the word for four resembles the word for death. While this isn’t a confirmed reason, it would make sense for the company to avoid the number, much like many other Chinese companies do. Similar to number 13 from western countries. Besides its internal codename, we don’t know muc

[Android] WhatsApp may launch peer-to-peer payments within 6 months in India

WhatsApp may introduce peer-to-peer payments in India before the end of this year. According to a report from The Ken , an India-based news website, WhatsApp will use a government-backed system named as the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) to allow users to send each other money in the app. The arrival of peer-to-peer payments in WhatsApp has been on the market for a while. The app’s co-founder, Brian Acton, said in February that WhatsApp was “in early stages” of investigating such a service during a trip to India. Meanwhile, Facebook, which owns WhatsApp, rolled out peer-to-peer payments to its Messenger app in the US in 2015. Though WhatsApp hasn’t confirmed or denied any of these claims, it seems pretty likely that P2P payments will roll out soon. David Marcus, the former PayPal president who works as the Vice President of Messaging Products at Facebook, spoke to Wired in 2015 about the potential for Facebook’s payments scheme. He said that this could not only be u

[Android] Android7.1.2 roll out to the Pixel C with new launcher and more

Android 7.1.2 is a surprisingly big update for the Pixel C. The Pixel Launcher makes its way to tablets, while the multitasking menu is now optimized for larger screen sizes. Several owners of the device are now reporting that the latest version of Android is beginning to widely roll out… The second public beta of 7.1.2 was released earlier this month to devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program. Yesterday, users who are not in the program noticed that a 340.1MB system update was available for install. Google has yet to officially highlight the new features, but the Pixel C tablet gains some changes that first debuted on phones. The Pixel Launcher replaces the Google Now launcher and adds a swipe-up app drawer and weather/date widget in the top right corner. Additionally, the navigation buttons now match the white style on phones. However, the most noticeable feature is a multitasking menu that takes better advantage of the larger screen. Apps are no
