[ How To ?? ] Convert Voice Notes in WhatsApp to Text

Voice notes in WhatsApp can be incredibly convenient but there are times when it’s actually troublesome to listen to them. To remedy this, XDA Recognized Developer  Mirko ddd  has put together a new application called Transcriber. The process here has you long pressing on a voice note and tap on the share icon that pop up at the top of the WhatsApp chat. From here, share this voice note with the Transcriber application and it will transcribe the audio for you. [ Tech News ] Rumors Pixel 2 XL may have Stereo Speakers, Music Recognition, and Portrait Mode

The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is set to be announced on October 4th with multiple color options and a hefty price tag. While these two smartphones have had a lot of information leaked so far, one of the most controversial changes is the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. This has been corroborated by 9to5Google , @evleaks, and others, so it’s safe to say that the next generation Pixel 2/2 XL smartphones will not feature a headphone jack. On Friday evening, Android Police’s Artem Russakovskii tweeted “unverified Pixel 2 rumors” detailing a mix of new and previously heard details about Google’s upcoming phones. Today, XDA- Developers , corroborated some of the newer claimed features. At an I/O 2017 developer sandbox we spotted a Pixel Launcher running on a Pixel that placed the Search bar below the dock, just above the navigation buttons. This redesign has now been confirmed by the two sources, with Artem also noting that the “Google home page has whole new design.”

[ Tech News ] Twitter Double the length limit for Tweets

Twitter today is moving away from its traditional 140 character tweet limit. The company has announced that it is testing a new 280 character limit for some users. Product manager Aliza Rosen made the likely controversial reveal in a blog post this afternoon … The company says it came to this decision after realizing how character and word count varied based on different languages. Rosen writes that languages like Japanese, Korean, and Chinese can “convey about double the amount of information in one character” as other languages such as English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French. For instance, some 9 percent of tweets sent in English have 140 characters, while just 0.4 percent of tweets sent in Japanese hit the cap. Our research shows us that the character limit is a major cause of frustration for people Tweeting in English, but it is not for those Tweeting in Japanese. Also, in all markets, when people don’t have to cram their thoughts into 140 characters and actu

[ Tech News ] Extended Security Patch For Nexus 5X and 6P

Even though both phones have had trouble with age, the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X have been solid devices, and they’re still going to be supported for a couple more months with major software updates. However, both phones are going to be getting security updates for another year, and Google has just randomly extended that… There’s really no indication why this has happened, but the Google support page listing update timelines for Nexus and Pixel devices was recently updated to extend the life of the Nexus 5x and Nexus 6P by a two months. Both phones were originally supposed to be dropped off from monthly security updates as of September 2018, but now both are listed as active through November of that year. This hasn’t extended to major updates, as Oreo is very likely the final version these phones will see, but it’s great to see Google giving the last two Nexus devices a little extra support. You know, as long as they actually last that long… Google’s current policy

[How to ??] Install Android 8.0 Oreo on Google Nexus 4

While many OEMs generally ignore some of their older smartphones, the developer community at XDA continues to work hard to keep them alive. Just yesterday, XDA Recognized Developer  Ziyan  released their first alpha build of Android Oreo for the Nexus 4 . Since this is an alpha release, we should expect some features to not work right now (like NFC, screen rotation, and likely others), but they looking into fixing them right now. [ Tech News ] Motorola announces Oreo updates

These are the phones Motorola is committing to updating to Android 8.0. Update, September 18: Motorola has updated its initial blog post to reflect a change in its plan after an outpouring of frustration and anger around the lack of a promised update for the Moto G4 Plus. From the company's blog : Since the time of posting this, we have learned of some errors in our marketing materials around Android O upgrades for moto g4 Plus. It's our general practice for the moto g family to get one major OS upgrade per device, so it wasn't originally planned for Android O. But it's important to us we keep our promises, so in addition to the N upgrade it has already received, we will be upgrading moto g4 Plus to Android O. Because this is an unplanned upgrade, it will take some time to fit into our schedule, we'll update our software upgrade page when we have more info. So there you have it. The Moto G4 Plus was never meant to get Oreo, but Motorola is

[ Tech News ] Motorola Handsets Getting Android Oreo Updates

Android 8.0 Oreo has been out in the wild for a hot minute now, and following the OS’s release back in August, we’ve quickly been learning which phones will be updated to the new firmware and which ones won’t. As for the good news, there are still quite a few handsets that’ll be updated to Oreo. They include: Moto G5 Moto G5 Plus Moto G5S Moto G5S Plus Moto Z Moto Z Droid Moto Z Force Droid Moto Z Play Moto Z2 Force Moto Z Play Interestingly enough, there’s no mention of the Moto E4 or E4 Plus that came out earlier this year. We’re inclined to believe that these two devices will be updated to 8.0 Oreo at one point or another considering how new they are, but it is odd that Motorola  omitted them from its support page. [ Phone Launch ] Galaxy Note 8 makes its debut in India

Just a few short weeks after its global unveil, Samsung is launching the Galaxy Note 8 in India. The Galaxy S8 series was very well-received in the country, and there's a healthy interest in the Galaxy Note line as well.
