[ Phone Launch ] Motorola Announces Moto E4 And Moto E4 Plus with long battery life, low price tags and Metal Bodies

Lenovo has been announcing new smartphones. Few weeks ago it unveiled the budget-friendly Moto C and Moto C Plus, and two weeks ago the Moto Z2 Play was unveiled. Now the company is back again with another pair of phones, this time in the budget-friendly Moto E range. The new Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus cost a bit more than the Moto C range, though they’re still quite affordable.

The metal body on the Moto E4 will have a 5.0-inch 1,280 x 720 display, and will come with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. Inside it will have either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 or 427(for the plus variant) quad-core processor running at 1.4 GHz. Some markets will offer the phone with a MediaTek 6737 chip. It will contain 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of onboard storage. You can take pictures with its 8 MP rear camera, or selfies with its 5 MP front facing camera. It will have a 2,800 mAh removable battery that is supposed to last up to one day on a single charge.

The Moto E4 will go on sale later in June for the starting price of $129.99 in the US and €149 in Europe. The phone will be sold on Amazon as a Prime Exclusive Phone, but pricing for that version has not yet been revealed. It will be sold with the color options of Licorice Black and Fine Gold.


Here is an indepth details that we know. The Moto E4 is the lower-end model of the pair. The device features a 5-inch HD (720p) display, a quad-core 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC (the international variant sports the MediaTek MT6737) paired with 2GBs of RAM, 16GBs of internal storage and a 2,800 mAh removable battery. Along with these specifications, you’re going to get an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. The handset will be running on the latest version of Android that is officially available – 7.1 Nougat.

The Moto E4 Plus is the slightly larger and powerful variant than its smaller brother. Motorola decided to place a larger 5.5-inch HD (720p) display, quad-core 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 427 SoC (again, the international variant has the MediaTek MT6737), 2GBs of RAM, 16GBs or 32GBs of ROM and a huge 5,000 mAh battery. Pairing such a capacious battery with a 720p display should give it a solid battery life. Additionally, the device works with the 10W rapid charger which gives you “hours of battery life in minutes of charging”. There are also improved cameras: a 13-megapixel rear shooter and a 5-megapixel front camera with a selfie flash. This device also runs Android 7.1.
Unfortunately, the Moto E4 will not feature a fingerprint sensor, though the Moto E4 Plus will in some non-U.S. markets. Furthermore, NFC support is also missing on the U.S. variant for both models, though it is present in the models sold internationally.

The Moto E4 will be available for $129.99. Motorola announced that the smaller device in the line-up will also be available as an Amazon Prime Exclusive Phone. The company will share the pricing details for this model at a later date. On the other hand, the Moto E4 Plus will cost $50 more and will start at $179.99.
