[ Tech News ] Rumors Pixel 2 XL may have Stereo Speakers, Music Recognition, and Portrait Mode

The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL is set to be announced on October 4th with multiple color options and a hefty price tag. While these two smartphones have had a lot of information leaked so far, one of the most controversial changes is the lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack. This has been corroborated by 9to5Google , @evleaks, and others, so it’s safe to say that the next generation Pixel 2/2 XL smartphones will not feature a headphone jack. On Friday evening, Android Police’s Artem Russakovskii tweeted “unverified Pixel 2 rumors” detailing a mix of new and previously heard details about Google’s upcoming phones. Today, XDA- Developers , corroborated some of the newer claimed features. At an I/O 2017 developer sandbox we spotted a Pixel Launcher running on a Pixel that placed the Search bar below the dock, just above the navigation buttons. This redesign has now been confirmed by the two sources, with Artem also noting that the “Google home page has whole new d...

[Tech Leaks] Galaxy Note 8:Leaked images of the entire device including S-Pen in Gold & Black

Few hours ago, famed leaker, Evan Blass, tweeted out a press render of the Galaxy Note 8 in Midnight Black. Unfortunately, at the time Blass was only able to share an image of the front of the handset. Now, Blass is back and has released an image of the Note 8 in both black and gold from almost every angle. Plus, he was able to include each variant’s distinctly colored S-Pen… The tweet, embedded below, shows press renders of Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone in Midnight Black and gold. The Midnight Black model is basically a blacked-out device with no different colored accents. The gold model is slightly different. This time, the backing and metal edges are all gold. Two areas that aren’t gold are the camera window and front bezels, which keep the black coloring. Also different is the S-Pen, which appears to be color matched to each Galaxy Note 8 color variant. There will most likely be even more color options shown off when Samsung announces the Galaxy Note 8 ...

[Tech Leaks] Razer reportedly developing a smartphone for ‘hardcore gamers’

Back in January, Nexbit announced that the company was being acquired by Razer. While nothing had been confirmed prior to the acquisition, Razer, a company that makes high-end gaming accessories and laptops, was rumored to be working on its own smartphone. According to a source for  Bloomberg , Razer is currently preparing to file for an initial public offering at the Hong Kong stock exchange. Having sold more than $1 billion in products over the last three years and holding a dominant position in the estimated $117 billion global video gaming industry, Razer is hoping for a valuation between $3 and $5 billion. As Razer is known for its gaming products, it would be safe to assume that its smartphone will be designed with gaming in mind. The company’s acquisition of Nextbit and the Android-powered Ouya gaming system will hopefully help the company produce a smartphone that is, according to Bloomberg, “tailored for its consumer base...

[TechLeaks] Pixel XL 2 may have Ambient Display Always On, Squeez while Screen Off, Multiple Display Profiles etc

The larger “taimen” Pixel XL in particular will feature a 5.99-inch display with a 1440p OLED panel provided by LG, seemingly a consequence of LG’s recent investments in their display division to sate increasing OLED panel demand. The device will also be coming with a Snapdragon 835 and will feature a similar two-tone glass and metal finish on the back, though we noted that the glass window is located near the top and that it no longer encloses the fingerprint scanner. A render provided by Android Police   report, closely matches the design information. The device seemingly borrows inspiration not only from the Pixel XL, but also the LG G6. XDA-Developers has also obtained information about the upcoming Pixel XL’s software feature set, which is explained below, from a source familiar with the matter. The specifics of these software features might change by the time the phone is finalized, we believe xda gives us some insight into what Google is trying to ach...

[TechLeaks] English Version of Bixby Reportedly Delayed

Samsung’s latest flagships, the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+, managed to grab everyone’s attention with their slew of new additions and features. From the curved display to the lack of bezels– the Galaxy S8 had a lot of positives going in its favor. One feature though invited reactions against what Samsung was expecting and hoping for. The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are the first Samsung smartphones to feature Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant. Samsung had high hopes for Bixby, so much that it incorporated a dedicated (fixed and officially non-remappable) hardware button on the devices solely to quick launch Bixby.   Unfortunately, when consumers got their hands on Galaxy S8 devices, they received only a shadow of the Bixby functionality that was promised to them in Samsung’s keynote. Bixby lacked Voice functionality in the English language on launch. What was to be a defining aspect of the S8 user experience simply did not materialize. A new report originating f...

[TechLeaks] Meizu Pro 7 Live Image Leaks Point Towards a Secondary Color Display on the Back

The mobile market sees like a cutthroat competition from all quarters, making it difficult for OEMs to stand above the crowd. There’s only so much differentiation one can bring to a phone’s design, so these OEMs have to explore unconventional features and sometimes quirky gimmicks to get their phones noticed. Meizu will reportedly be doing something similar with its next set of devices in the “Pro” lineup. The Meizu Pro 7 and the Meizu Pro 7 Plus will reportedly feature not only a dual rear camera setup, but also a secondary color display on the back of the device.   The small secondary display will be housed below the dual rear camera. At first, leaks pointed that this display could be an e-ink display  similar to the Yotaphone , just a bit smaller. But new leaks of the device showcase color display functionality which would not be possible with an e-ink display. One of the leaks pictures the secondary display displaying a full copy of the f...

[ TechLeaks ] Amazon Echo may launch in India this year including regional language support

Amazon is investing over $5 billion for its Indian unit to turn the website into the largest e-commerce portal in the subcontinent. The retailer rolled out its Prime subscription service in the country last year, and introduced Prime Video a few months ago. Now it looks like Amazon wants to bring its Echo lineup to India by the end of the year. That's according to two anonymous sources speaking to Economic Times . This isn't the first time we're hearing about the Amazon Echo landing in India, but ET's report also states that Alexa — Amazon's voice-based assistant — will include support for regional languages: Marathi, Tamil and Hindi. Amazon is said to initially offer Alexa in English, with support for local languages coming shortly afterwards. Alexa has turned into a robust platform over the last two years, with the assistant doing over 1,200 skills — everything from calling a cab, ordering items on Amazon, sending a text with your voice, and mor...

[ TechLeaks ] Pixel 2 ‘walleye’ and ‘taimen’ Specifications Revealed

The Pixel and Pixel XL were highly anticipated devices, but ultimately they were primarily a first-generation, introductory release for Google, and though they weren’t wholly-spectacular, we regarded them a “foundational release“. What was and remains really exciting, however, is what can be built upon said foundations. In recent weeks, rumors of Google’s next generation ‘Pixel 2’ devices have increased in frequency. We reported earlier this month that LG would be manufacturing the likely Pixel XL successor, while back in March we got a look at Google documentation that suggested no headphone jack. New rumors today corroborate both details and provide the first solid — thought expected — insight into what specs will power these upcoming devices, as well as other design changes in store. A source “familiar with the matter” that has “spent time with at least one of these phones” provided information on both devices to XDA Developers. “Walleye” — ...

[ TechNews ] Latest Alpha Build of CrossOver Android Released including support of Android Nougat

If you are familiar with GNU/Linux-based operating systems, you have almost certainly heard of Wine. CrossOver Android is a similar concept, but it’s made for Android tablets and Chromebooks running Intel hardware to allow these platforms to run full-fledged Windows software. The latest alpha build, version 4, has been released with support for Android Nougat. CodeWeavers, the company behind the project, released an initial alpha of the CrossOver Android project almost a year ago. Since then, this project has matured and now the fourth Alpha is available. Here is the full change log for the CrossOver Preview application from the Google Play Store: “ We now support Android N! Several fixes for Office on Chromebooks are included in this release. We also now support 64-bit file offsets, allowing for use of very large files. CrossOver’s UI has further en...

[ TechLeaks ] Korean media: Galaxy Note 8 to launch on August 26 in New York as report says

The Korea Herald and the news portal Naver said today purporting to reveal the release date of Samsung’s Next Big Thing. According to the Korea Herald , Samsung is planning to introduce the Galaxy Note 8 “in the third or fourth week of August.” Like the Note 7 before it, the new S Pen device will reportedly make its debut in New York. Citing an unnamed Samsung official, Naver ventures a specific date: August 26, give or take a couple of days. Samsung initially planned to launch the new Note at IFA in the first week of September, according to the Korea Herald . The impending arrival of rival devices from LG and especially Apple might have prompted Samsung to bring up the big release. For reference, the Note 7 was announced on August 2 last year. Reports that surfaced after the phone was recalled due to faulty batteries suggested Samsung rushed the device to market in order to outshine Apple. Almost every flagship release from Samsung from the last few years has been preced...

Android Things is now on its fourth developer preview and with it brings support for the Google Assistant SDK on all certified development boards. Additionally, this release adds support for more devices, as well as a way to help developers build production-ready devices. Google decided not to wait for tomorrow’s start of its Google I/O conference to launch the latest developer version of its Android Things operating system. The company has released the fourth preview version of the OS, which is designed for used by Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Google says this new version will allow its supported IoT boards to access its Google Assistant SDK tools, which means that development boards like the Intel Edison, the NXP Pico i.MX6UL and the Raspberry Pi 3 can use the company’s voice-command digital assistant. Support for the Google Assistant SDK is now available on all Android Things certified development boards, following a partnership w...

[TechLeaks] OnePlus 5 Launch this Summer

OnePlus has recently posted a teaser for its upcoming flagship smartphone. The company shared an image on the Chinese social network Weibo confirming : the release date and the name of the device. The tagline reads “Hello 5” and confirms that the smartphone will be called the OnePlus 5 and to note that it won't be called as the OnePlus 4. The company has decided to skip the number four, since it is considered to be unlucky in China due to the fact that it is associated with death. Along with the image, OnePlus also wrote “Hey Summer! Give me five!”, which is enough for us to believe that the flagship will be revealed during the summer months. There’s currently no word on exactly when that might happen, but we do expect the OnePlus 5 will see the light of day at the end of June or somewhere in July. As of now, OnePlus hasn’t confirmed any other details regarding the device. We have come across a few rumors claiming that the OnePlus 5 will feature a 5.5-inch di...

[Techleaks]The rumored Amazon Echo touchscreen speaker image leaks

Update : Evan “@evleaks” Blass has just posted higher-res images of the Amazon touchscreen speaker on his Twitter account . Rumors have been found recently that claim Amazon is planning to release a new member of its Echo family, Echo connected speaker that would also have a touchscreen. Now a very tiny image of what that product may look like has been uncovered on Amazon’s site. The image was discovered by AFTVNews , after finding it through Amazon’s web servers. As you can see in both the original image and its highly magnified version, it shows a rather pixelrated looking box-like product that looks quite a lot like an old TV set. The render shows some kind of camera on top of the screen, while the speaker is below it. We hope that this image is not the final design for the Echo touchscreen speaker, but rather an old concept. However, we also have to be prepared that this may be what Amazon wants. It will be interesting to see how Amazon combines the...

[TechLeaks] Moto Z2 Force leaked renders

Earlier in Wednesday’s leak, a render of the device’s bottom shows the 3.5mm port that was excluded from the original Moto Z Force. It’s remarkable that Lenovo managed to fit a jack in even after thinning the device to another millimeter to 5.99 mm (8.50 mm including the camera bump). Do keep in mind, though, that the original Moto Z was 5.19mm thick, making this new model a compromise between the two models.     The Z2 Force is less than a millimeter larger length and width-wise, though the all-around curves should help with the in-hand feel. Top and bottom renders especially highlight there are more rounded edges for improved cellular reception. In all, the design of the Z line remains unchanged from previously announced compatibility with existing Moto Mods. On the front, the Z2 Force is moving to the Moto G5’s larger, oblong fingerprint sensor. A 5.5-inch display remains, as does the Moto logo just below it. Motorola i...

[TechLeaks]The upcoming OnePlus handset’s codename leaked

OnePlus 3T Rumors and leaks surrounding OnePlus’s upcoming flagship smartphone are starting to make up. The latest leak comes from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and appears to show that the next handset is codenamed A5000. If we see through the company’s history, this would hint that the next device will be called the OnePlus 5… Previously OnePlus devices were internally named A0001, A2000, and A3000. These lined up with the OnePlus One, 2, and 3 so it is safe to assume that A5000 is indeed going to be the OnePlus 5. But why would OnePlus skip the number four and jump right to five? Well, OnePlus is a company based in China and in the Chinese language, the word for four resembles the word for death. While this isn’t a confirmed reason, it would make sense for the company to avoid the number, much like many other Chinese companies do. Similar to number 13 from western countries. Besides its internal codename, we don’t...
