[ WWDC ] Apple's Keynote 2017

Today at Apple’s WWDC 2017 the company announced the newest update to their mobile operating system, iOS 11. New update is now available to developers through the Apple Developer Center and will be available as a public beta later this month. As we begin to dive into the new operating system, let’s take a first look at what the update brings to the user experience.

With iOS 11 this year Apple showed a renewed focus in using Siri as the device’s personal assistant. Now integrating across the user experience, Siri will become even more contextually aware. Also shown off on stage was a redesigned Control Center that looks to make accessing common tools even easier.

Duo's picture-in-picture mode is now available for everyone on Oreo. Oreo introduced picture-in-picture mode for phones and tablets, and Google is now flipping the switch for Duo. The feature is now available on all Oreo devices. You don't need to make any changes to enable picture-in-picture mode. As long as you're using a device running Oreo and have the latest update installed , you should be able to use the feature. With picture-in-picture mode, you get a miniature version of the picture window in one corner of the screen when you hit the home button in the middle of a call. You can move the position of the picture window to any corner of the screen, and the video orientation will change automatically based on whether the phone is in landscape or portrait mode. In teardown of version 7.12 of the Google app last week, we spotted several mentions of a customizable “Google Bar.” Since then, we have been able to activate the feature to reveal that future versions of the Google app that may allow users to customize the search bar widget.
